# Packages

Packages let you sell a set of credits that customers can redeem toward eligible Rentals, Lessons, or Classes at your facility. You can use packages to offer discounted rates, encourage repeat bookings, and collect payment upfront.

Unlike memberships, packages do not automatically renew and have no recurring payment component. Customers purchase a package when they need it and can purchase another once they need more credits.

You can visit the Packages page by navigating to [Services > Packages](https://admin.runswiftapp.com/services/packages) in your Swift Admin dashboard.

# **When to Use Packages**

Packages are an excellent way to offer your customers discounted rates while benefiting from upfront revenue. By allowing customers to purchase multiple credits in advance, you can encourage repeat bookings, improve cash flow, and provide added value to your customers.

For example, you could offer **8 Hitting Lessons for $300** or a **Strength and Conditioning Class Package** at a discounted rate compared to the customer purchasing each session individually.

The process is simple. Once a customer purchases a package, it becomes available in their Swift account. When they go to book a Rental, Lesson, or Class, Swift automatically checks their account for eligible package credits that can be redeemed toward the booking. If applicable credits are available, the customer can use them according to the package's credit settings and any applicable restrictions.

# **How to create a Package**

To create a new Package:

1. In your Swift Admin dashboard, go to **Services > Packages**

2. Click the **\+ New** button on the top right of the page.

3. You’ll be taken to the "**Add Package**" service form, which you'll need to complete to create the Class. Let's go through each section of the service form below!

## **Basics**

When creating a **Package**, you'll want to set a clear **name**. Optionally, you can add preview text and/or a description. These are customer-facing fields, so make sure they’re clear and helpful.

**Preview Text**: A short summary that gives customers a quick idea of what the rental is. There's a limit of 150 characters, and the format would be plain text only.

**Description**: This is where you can be more descriptive, and can add some flair. Use this space to provide any extra details, like what’s included, what to bring, or specific policies.

**Media**: You can add an image to your service card, giving each service its own unique look and helping customers quickly identify what they’re looking for. The image file size should be 2MB or less, and should be 16:9 ratio.

Not ready to add Media images yet? No problem, any service without media images will automatically display the facility’s banner instead.

## **Pricing**

Set the price you would like to charge the public (non-members) and members for purchasing this package.

**Default Price:** This is the price that's paid by all customers at your facility. If you input a Default Price only (no membership pricing), then this is the price that's paid by both the public and members.

**Membership Pricing:** If you want to offer members a special or discounted price for the package, you can select the Membership Pricing tab and enter a price and select the membership group the price applies to.

If you add both a Default Price and a Membership Price for a package, a member must first sign into their Swift account to see the discounted rate for the package.

Customers will _only_ have access to prices and services that you've configured here. **If there is no default price set for a package, then the public (non members) will not be able to see or buy the package.**

## **Credits**

Credits can be redeemed toward eligible services, with each credit representing a unit of the service it applies to. How a credit is used depends on whether it is configured for a Rental, Lesson, or Class.

When creating a package, you can configure which services the credits apply to and how they can be redeemed. For example, you can create a package that includes five Rental credits and five Class credits, allowing customers to use the credits toward the respective services.

However, **credits cannot be used interchangeably across different service categories or services**. Once a customer purchases the package, Rental credits can only be redeemed toward the eligible Rental service, while Class credits can only be redeemed toward the eligible Class service. Customers cannot use Rental credits to pay for a Class or vice versa.

### Rental Credits

For Rentals, credits are based on the **Minimum Duration** setting. For example, if a rental credit has a minimum duration of 30 minutes, one credit covers the cost of a 30-minute rental booking, providing a 100% discount for that duration. If a customer books a 1-hour session, the same credit covers 50% of the rental price. This is because the 1-hour booking is equivalent to two 30-minute units.

### Lesson and Class Credits

Credits for Lessons and Classes do not follow the concept of minimum duration. Instead, each credit applies to one unit of the eligible service. For example, a package containing five credits for a specific Class can be used to book five sessions of that class, with each credit covering 100% of the applicable session price. Simply put, 1 credit = 1 class session. Or, 1 credit = 1 lesson.

Expiry settings are useful for promotional packages or packages intended to encourage customers to use their credits within a particular period. When creating credits, you can optionally specify:

- **Expiry**: You can set an explicit expiry date in the future, or automatically make the credits expire after a certain period of time after the purchase

- **Usage restrictions**: This is abuse protection, and you can set limits on how often credits can be used.

Before publishing the package, make sure the expiry terms are clear to customers. Consider how long customers realistically need to use all their credits.

# **Edit A Package**

To edit a package, click into the specific package from the [Services > Packages](https://admin.runswiftapp.com/services/packages) page and you will be taken to the "Edit Package" form.

Here, you can edit any of the details mentioned above. Just remember to click "Save" at the bottom to apply your changes!

# **Duplicate An Existing Package**

To make it easier to create multiple packages, you can click into an existing package on the [Services > Packages](https://admin.runswiftapp.com/services/packages) page, and then click the "bottom arrow" icon on the top right, beside the "Copy direct booking link" button.

You'll now be navigated to a new "Add Package" form, with all the details of the previous package filled in! The title will have the word "(Copy)" added to it, to indicate that this is a duplicated package.

# **Delete A Package**

To delete a package, click into an existing package and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There, you'll see a "Delete" button on the bottom left.

This button may be disabled if customers have already started buying this package. It may also be disabled if you don't have the permission to delete it (in which case, you should talk to the owner or someone with more access).

If the package can be deleted, you can click Delete and hit "Confirm" on the modal that appears to remove this package. Remember, **this action cannot be undone.**

# **Advanced Settings**

There are some additional things you can do with packages, which are explained below.

## **Tax Rates**

Enable the "Collect tax" toggle to charge customers a pre-defined tax rate when they purchase this package. This will populate the correct tax amount on your booking page, as well as internally on the admin side of Swift when you charge customers.

![](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/helpcenter/68f9695533396ef6c4d4cb3e/20261020144637_6117.png)

If you don't have any tax rates created, visit the [Tax Rates settings](https://help.runswiftapp.com/article/424-tax-rates) section to learn how to add them.

## **Custom Fees**

Enable the "Collect Custom Fee" toggle to charge customers a pre-defined custom fee when they purchase this lesson. This will automatically populate the custom fee amount on top of the booking at checkout, which will be payable by the customer.

![](https://staticfiles.gleap.io/helpcenter/68f9695533396ef6c4d4cb3e/20261020144637_3204.png)

If you don't have any custom fee rates created, visit the [Custom Fees settings](https://help.runswiftapp.com/article/425-custom-fees) section to learn how to add them.

## **Making a Private Package**

Under "Advanced Settings", you can turn on the "Private" toggle to "On" to make a package private.

By doing this, only customers with [a direct booking link](https://help.runswiftapp.com/article/364-packages#Direct-Booking-Links-arNgl) to this package will be able to book it. It will be invisible to all other customers, and will not appear on your booking page.

# **Miscellaneous**

## **Direct Booking Links**

Want to send a direct link to book a package to a customer? Perhaps you have a private package that only specific customers can book? Or you would like to add a button on your website that takes customers directly to this package?

This button does exactly that! On the top right of a package form, you should see the "Copy direct booking link" button. Click this, and a direct link to the package will be copied to your clipboard.

## **Booking Page Appearance**

You may also want to control how the "Packages" category as a whole appears on the booking page. You may want to call it "Credit Bundles" instead of the generic "Packages" shown on Swift.

In that case, you can visit [Settings > Booking Page](https://admin.runswiftapp.com/settings/booking-page) in your Admin Dashboard, and scroll down to the Service Display section.

Click the "Edit name and description" (pencil) icon on the right side of the category listing. A modal will pop up with a few options. Here, you can customize:

- The title of the Packages category - you can call it "Credit Bundles" for example

- The description of the Packages category - you can add any additional context here

Once you click Save, these changes will be immediately reflected on your booking page. Internally, the service category will still display as Packages in the Admin dashboard.
